Exploring Human Muscles Setup in Maya

by Jakub Krompolc

Throughout these lessons, we'll learn how to create a deformation setup for a humanoid character using muscles from Maya toolset. Software required: Maya 2016.

What you'll learn

Throughout these lessons, we'll learn how to create a deformation setup for a humanoid character using muscles from Maya toolset. We'll look at converting human anatomy to a 3d deformation rig, making muscle objects and attaching them to an animation skeleton, and finishing with how to make these muscles deform the character's geometry. We will also use a custom python script function, written for this tutorial, to streamline the setup. By the end of the tutorial, you will know more about realistic deformation setups based on a film production workflow. Specials thanks goes out to Jan Jinda for the werewolf model and Pavel Hrubos for the animation clips. Software required: Maya 2016.
