Modeling a Machine Gun Turret in CINEMA 4D

by Andy Lefton

Throughout this CINEMA 4D tutorial, we'll model a gun turret using hard surface modeling techniques such as beveling and extrusions. In the first phase, we'll use the Knife and Extrude tools to block out our hard surface model. Software required: CINEMA 4D 16.

What you'll learn

Throughout this CINEMA 4D tutorial, we'll model a gun turret using hard surface modeling techniques such as beveling and extrusions. In the first phase, we'll use the Knife and Extrude tools to block out our hard surface model. Additionally we'll learn to stage our geometry and continue to build our 3D mesh. Upon completing our basic layout, we'll utilize tighter detail by beveling our edges and getting the proper highlights in our mesh that will assist in the realism of our turret. As our 3D model is finalized, we'll implement spline dynamics to help add animation action to our movements and introduce the Greebler plugin to add detail nuances to our base mesh. By the end of this CINEMA 4D training, you'll have created a realistic machine gun turret. Software required: CINEMA 4D 16.
