In this Softimage tutorial, we will learn how to create the appearance of studio lighting in Softimage for clean, professional-looking renders. Software required: Softimage 7.5 and up.

What you'll learn

In this Softimage tutorial, we will learn how to create the appearance of studio lighting in Softimage for clean, professional-looking renders. We will begin our light setup by placing our direct illumination sources and adjusting light and shadow parameters to achieve our desired result. From there, we will learn how to mimic the effect of studio light diffusers, giving us clean, precise reflections on our geometry. Finally, we'll create a reflective studio environment that can enhance our indirect illumination results. Using the techniques discussed here, you will be able to create production-quality lighting that can be used for things like automotive rendering, product visualization, or any number of projects that would call for a studio-lit appearance. Software required: Softimage 7.5 and up.
