its gorgeous! hope you can find good referance for that! haha. That will look real nice in 3d!
i wish you luck
Well here is the car i plant to enter for this month's theme.
The Japanese beast the R34-GTR V-SPEC

yeah u model the smart way. ive gotten comments on some of my cars saying you should block out the basic parts first then get the detail. but i never listen. =P
looking forward to see you progress! good luck![]()
Don't expect anything fancy i'm still learning Blender, i kept hitting 'F' and it won't frame hehe.
I miss Maya but i cannot use it as i was only able to use it at school.
PLE does work but i dislike WATERMARKS on my work.
Right back at you Supernegrojr. I want to see more of your Bugatti Veyron![]()
Just a minor update. As you can see i am not very skilled in car modeling.
The front panel needs a lot of work.
I'm using a panel by panel approach for those who are interested. Which simply means building piece by piece and keeping them tight so theres that 'clean' look.
From my screen shot its not very CLEAN.
Pretty much still blocking out, ran into some trouble because Blender is really sensitive, it kinda forces you to have all quads and tri geometry only.
I kinda miss split polygon tool but they have something to compensate for it.
Looking great, great start u got their![]()

Heyyyy, nice ride. You're gonna hook it up like that or more than that? It's a great car for a body kit![]()
I'd love to do a body kit / paint job on it. If you can teach me howin Blender j/k.
If only i was good at art then i guess i could draw something and project it onto the body kit.
I might throw in an old logo i gotnever know, still got a lot to learn regarding the software. The modeling speed really fast and modifiers
it's a shame Maya doesn't use that logic.
Nevertheless they are quiet different.
Great start Farla...coming along nicely!! If you can learn Maya to a good level, Im sure Blender wont get you stumpt. That said Ive never used anything but Maya.
oh Johnny you will be gobsmacked if you tried Blender. Its so different to any 3D package out their in terms of keyboard shortcuts.
Interface concept was designed beyond Maya even existed so yeah you can tell its a quiet old 3D app. Its also from Europe unlike most the big software which are made in the US.
However having said that the 'THEORY' of modeling still applies regardless. Stuff like manifold etc.. doesn't change either.
Thats what I like about 3D...theory stays the same. What you can achieve in Maya you can do in another app if you know the theory...its just the tools take need getting used to. Also I absolutely love Maya and everything about it, and hopefully I can get away with just using Maya for everything with the exception of compositing...for now. But if I have to learn something else in the future, which I reckson Ill have to what with technology always changing, Ill be able to learn it just as effectively.
Wise thinking. Never limit yourself to just one thing, especially when it comes to a CG application. If you do, however, feel comfortable using Maya over Blender (let's say), consider ways of integrating both.Originally Posted by johnny
Good advice DJ! I must say that I know Maya well, in the most part. That said though it could be the smallest thing in a given future project that needs the use of another application...which I see definetely happening with realflow and zbrush (which I never used). Ive also realised my aptitute for learning 3D using these kind of apps, and Ill be able to warm to any other app I think without too much trouble as I do consider Maya a bit of a pain to learn and get used to...but it does pay off.
wow thats looking really good! cars are neat to see modeled.
