I am using Maya 2013 and it appears that the method of using follicles is not as simple with the addition of the nucleus. I am not sure what to do with it, I tried deleting them but after creating 4 follicles I got an error saying that no new hair systems could be created. I tried to use a method of creating a group to house a point on poly constraint with the control object then parented into that group but am running into a issue with one of the POPconstraints origins being flipped to the opposite side of the face.
So, what would be a good solution to sticking the lip controls to the mesh? or am I missing something to make either method work?
Did you check out the UVs of the mesh you are about to apply hair to?
Maya Hair needs proper uvs since the follicle placement is controlled via uv space. If your mesh has too small uvs, it will not work.
Just create a new map for your duplicated driver geometry and that should do the trick
Okay so I cleaned up the uv's so they look nice and tried again. This is the error I received.
// Warning: createHair.mel line 758: createHair: follicles currently exist at all create locations, no new hairs created //
Edit: Okay so rereading your post I see that it has to do with size of mesh more then anything so once I scaled the uv's up to fit the entire space it works just fine.
