Hi
I'm trying to create a shareable animation library in Softimage (2010). I think Softimage's "Clips" might be the right solution but I'm wondering 2 things:
-Do Clip Presets reference the animation? Meaning: if I open my scene on another computer will I also need to bring the clip preset files with me?
-Is there a way to extract animation data from a clip so it appears in the timeline like all my other animation?
Is there a better way to share animation cycles with other people? In Maya we would probably run an import/export script but I'm not as savvy about Soft.

-Yes, you'll need to also make sure to transport your clip preset files.
"Is there a way to extract animation data from a clip so it appears in the timeline like all my other animation?"
-In the Explorer, select the source (not the clip), and choose Apply > Action from the side toolbar.

-Clips are a great way to share animation. You can also export Models, which is what I'd recommend if you're wanting to share the entire character. Once your character rig is stored in the Model (Model>Create>Model>New Model), in the Explorer, RMB click on the Model node and choose "Export Model". You can then import it from the file menu.
