Raptor modeling (extrusion not shading)

Early on in lesson 15 modeling the raptors head. I extrude the curve using the edge as the instructo and everythings seem to be fine however when i go to add the division to the geometry they're not shading. I'm not quite sure what i could have done any help would be appreciated.

This has happened to me a few times - Try applying a new material to your model; this seems to work for me.
