Materials not showing up in the viewport. 3ds Max 2013

As it says on the tin, when I apply a material to an object in the viewport it does not show up. The wireframe changes to the base color of the material but the rest of it remains the flat color assigned to the geometry when it was created. Textures render fine. I have tried enabling textures in the views menu and I have also switched graphic drivers from Nitrous to DirectX with no luck.

Anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it? It's annoying having to render a snapshot of my scene every time i want a preview of my textured model.

I dont like max 2013, I came back to the older version. Its for some reason lagging when Im modeling and and turn on the wireframe. Basic scene with 350.000 polygons.. when I open it in 2012 everything works perfect..

I see in your pic you cannot turn on show shaded material in viewport

So is there no solution to this problem? even a work around? 3d studio max is an extremely expensive program to have such a huge issue for over two years...

    Hey Glockshna,
There's a few different things it could be. Check out this other post with some solutions: http://www.digitaltutors.com/forum/s...ng-in-viewport
