HDR Images without Chrome Ball?

Is it possible to make a image for IBL without using chrome ball? I don't have a chrome ball and it is to expensive for me to buy it, so I am wonder is it possible to make a series of photos, combine them in Photoshop to they look like they are made from chrome ball (Something like making panorama photo)?

Technically you could use a technique similar to a panorama, but they can be much more difficult to get right. This is especially true if you're not extremely familiar with photographic techniques and image manipulation in PS. Chrome balls don't have to be anything fancy, and often you can find them for pretty cheap at your local home repair/garden shop.
