Hi!, I write you today because I would very much like to hear your thoughts on the build i will be purchasing in the next month or so and how it will perform when it comes to cg animation and rendering.
Any monitors. You should atleast have dual monitors.
I have found a large HD is not practical anymore. I have gone to having several smaller HD, 1 in my computer, 1 on my network and a couple external HD. I use most of them for backup purposes. Losing 2TB of data can cause heart attacks, there is no need to put yourself through that.
This is all for a home setup.
Thanks for the replies! i have dual monitors and i understand fully what your saying. would you say it would be a better decision to get say a 1TB HD? And will this computer be able to run things like viewport 2.0 and mudbox without any problems? Thanks!
Don't worry about the HD, you can always get a smaller external one for keeping runtimes and other stuff on. mudbox and everything else will run great on that setup.
Things like Viewport 2.0 - you need to check the video card will run it. It is mainly the drivers that do not support Viewport 2.0. Not sure, but maybe most cards these days have driver support for this. I bought a fairly highend ATI card, 1.5 year ago - and I still have no support for Viewport 2.0.
Your 16g of ram will be sweet with mudbox, etc..
You can do whatever with your HD setup - just do not buy a system without thinking about what you use it for. Make sure you atleast get a smaller external drive.
