I recently have been taken by Meindbender's animations and I love the clay feel they have of their shaders.
Anyone have ideas on how to replicate the clay shader in Maya? They used Maxwell Renderer to get there look, I'm wondering if I could get it with the SSS shader? What should I play with? I'm going to be using a character from zBrush that I've modeled to look more clay-like as well. Thanks!
Hello LucasR! First let me welcome you to the DT community!! I'm not familiar with the way that Meindbender sets up their scenes, but here is a real quick look at how you can get a clay look that will help get you started. Hope it helps!
Here's a link to the Introduction to mental ray in Maya 2009 course that was referenced in the video.
Wow - thanks for the video response, wasn't expecting that! That gives me some ideas. Here's the result I got so far with the mia material x passes: http://lucasridley.tumblr.com/post/5...-like-material
