Female Base Mesh ( WIP )

    Hello all,

Over the admittedly short amount of time I have been modeling I have tried to find good base models for humans. When I was very very new I was very into cutting corners apparently . In any case, What I could find was usually out of my price range after selling my children to afford Maya or was either far too low rez to be workable without...actually having to work (Like i said..cutting corners) or had terrible geometry. Skip forward about a year and I'm watching a video lecture by a professional model/designer using "kit bashing", and during the video he has dozens and dozens of just spare parts laying around that he pieces together an entire transformer with...needless to say I was impressed and decided It was time to begin building my OWN base meshes if for else anything than to "spare parts" that were designed by me and I liked. ( Of course this was after googling for a few hours trying to find them for free lol - old habits do die hard you know).

I spent a couple of weeks contemplating what genre I wanted to do this in and what would be most productive and make me happy while modeling.. and I realized..while modeling an Apache helicopter that I really didn't like sharp edges and how fond I was of organic humanoid/animal modeling; and with that, I began modeling my very first human base mesh to work off of, a Female as it was - and I intend to upload and provide this base mesh .OBJ FREE of charge in a medium resolution ( medium poly count ). I believe it will remain headless, as this area does vary a lot, and in the end, include several different sets of breasts that can be merged (with provided MEL scripts) into the base as editing this area once its attached can get a little rough, as well as hands and feet in different poses, further down the line in the process so long as it takes off.

I am posting the images of the base mesh as it is currently, and would like feedback to if this community would like to receive a perfectly free, no ads anything to get it, on my own domain, base mesh of a female to work with along the previous parameters, if you would..please reply and let me know, because I won't know the response unless you tell me

Once again, the arms are "in progress" but if you notice any immediate flaws let me know, and anywhere else on the body i'm very much up for critism, just remember it is a base mesh, and i'm focusing on the large body parts ( thighs, calves, kneecaps, etc) and not fine details.

    Update:

The arms are done, and i'm working on the neck, so with a face a bust can should be easilly rendered for the end-user, after needing to add in some details for feminism the edge loops have almost doubled, so I may be releasing 2 different version of this at the end of it all and after re-topology, a medium and medium-high Object. Updated Screenshots should be incoming within 24 hours.

P.S. For someone who was never able to goto college and learn Human Anatomy proper..it's amazing what you learn by watching other modelers work and staring at reference images for hours..tracing out the muscles in photoshop..Kids..STAY IN SCHOOL
Also, I didn't mention this in the previous post..But I would very much like to thank the artist behind the mic in "Intro in Maya" and "Female Android Design".. If I remember right Papa did them both... When I first opened up maya I was like a lost child, and with your help, I am what I am now

Couldn't hurt putting a basic shape for a head in their, this will allow you to see if all your proportions are correct a lot easier. So far, its looking pretty snazzy

I'm a little confused on why you posted it in this section though... Since this is for Transportation Models for the March contest.

All in all... keep up the good work

    as Wayniac said
you should post it in the member project, sure, but not in a month since month are there for the monthly contest.

but I like your modeling think you should add some volume to her breast since female are not flat.
I think you're going in the right direction but I don't think it was the moment to export it to Zbrush, do your base mesh in Maya, do your UV's and then export it to Zbrush for some tweaking and export it back to maya and import it as a Normal Map.

    Hope it helps!

    Hello,

Sorry the late response, been pretty busy with work.

Did not realize I could just put it into "member projects" and not choose a date If any mods happen to review this, if you could push it back out of the month by month i'd be very appreciate. I may indeed shove a basic head and breasts on for proportions sake so that I can view the entire body.

For the maya part, the new modelling workflow I am trying out seems to be helping me alot, basically i rough out a shape with very few edgeloops and plop it into zbrush so i can just move things around a little easier than tweaking all of the verts for a more organic feel, then just push it back into maya, keeping all changes at the base mesh without SubD. I find it's helping me really pull the form together better and keep my geometry much more clean.. doing some final tweaking of the form and will post some screenshots tonight

if thats the way you like it, thats the way you should do it buddy!
keep in mind that the easiest method for the others may not be the best for you. Good thing that you found your own =)
