Things are missing

I am missing a couple of things in maya like my ability to incrementally save my scene which is normally done by entering file>save scene>options box. but its not there, why? and also the object options in the channel box so I can change the divisions of a poly sphere on the fly, as an example. These things where there because I was using them ealier in my scene but I just noticed they are gone. Did I turn something off?

In My Documents\maya\scripts\ check to see if there is a MEL script called filemenu. Delete that, and restart maya.
