I did manage to go see the movie on the midnight showing. Good thing my friends and I went to go get the tickets 7 hours early, then waited in line 2 hours before the movie; because it was PACKED and sold out. It made around $18M for the midnight showings, then $66.4M at the end of the day, wow! I'm kind of not surprised, because it was a really awesome movie, and I might go see it again sometime this week if I have a chance.
Heath Ledger did a phenomenal job playing Joker, creepiest villain I've ever seen on screen, I can't imagine a better way for Joker to be portrayed. It's just a real shame he can't be around to see his masterpiece, and be around for more amazing performances, RIP.
Aaron Eckhart did a really awesome job with Harvey Dent, and Two Face. I was really glad when I found out that they picked him for the role, because I liked him him many other movies he's played in. And this was by far the best performance I've seen from him so far. And they did a great job with two face, it actually looked gross and real, haha. And of course, Christian Bale and all the returning actors did a really great job as well.
Well if you liked Batman Begins, make sure to go see this one, if you haven't already :D

Yup good movie...worth watching it..awesome performance by the late Heath Ledger as the Joker. Is there a sequel after this? cause Heath is gone :( and in the credits i notice that it is not Katie Holmes who played the Rachel Dawes role anymore. I guess she turned it down. Nice cg of two face looks more realistic compared to the batman forever two face.

Well there obviously is going to be a sequel, we haven't even seen the real traditional Batcave yet. But it sucks how they have to find another Joker to be as good as Heath. And Katie Holmes gave up acting after she married Tom Cruise a few years back, but at least her replacement in the movie was just as good, if not a slightly better actress.
Haha, yeah the cg looked more real of course, but you have to give them credit back then, because there was no other way to do it. Personally I prefer puppet Yoda over CG Yoda, some movies seem to abuse and overuse CG way too much. But in this case it was used well and not over used.

This was by far the creepiest character of Joker in the Batman series I've seen. Ledger did a great job but I'm sure they'll find another actor to play Joker, though depending on the context of the movie. Jack Nicholson played Joker in a mild, more comedic PG-13 version of "Batman".

**Spoiler alert**
At least we don't have to worry about the character of Rachel for any newer installments of Batman anymore.

Admittedly Ledger made Joker his own but Jack Nicholson was the original best Joker. So much so that Ledger sought him for his input on certain things other than how to get over sleepless nights as a result of the character being in his head.
By far the greatest movie in a loooong time. I will be back this weekend to see it again. Not at the IMAX this time though. The IMAX experience was no experience at all. It made no real difference in appearance in my opinion.

Sorry, but i am soooo glad Rachel will never be in the future movies. She was a little annoying.

Hey all
Went to see TDK last night, I was completely blown away by heaths performance, fantastic. Also to note, I would leave the joker out of part 3 how can you find somebody to give the same performance as heath did. I'd say just leave him out, and don't bother with robin, penguin or catwomen, and the riddler for tha matter they have been done before.
I'd say if they are going to do a third film then do a new villian.
Just wanted to ask if anybody thought when the joker blew up the hospital and walked away outside was the funniest thing in the movie ? I couldn't stop laughing at the way he walked.

Also went to see this last night...what a masterpiece of a film from the Nolan Brothers. The way they opened it was fantastic and definetely set the modd properly. Ledger was simply fantastic...wasn't better than Nicholson...but he really was great. I like the film a lot, there were some querky bits in the plot, and things that should have been left out but great. Andy I agree...leave the joker out of 3rd...personally dont think they should make a 3rd. And that hospital scene was very funny :loud_laug
It's sad we are immune to such violence and nothing beats Jack Nicholson.

(Critec warning)
Heath was by far a true Joker.
I'm sure I'll be the only one being critical of The Dark Knight,
But here is my 2 cents. The film was too long (drawn out). Two-Face was done unjustly and piontless(to a point). They tried to put too much into one film.
(Keep it simple)
A few of Batman's principles were over looked.
The film did have a few good points and was visually stunning.
The character and principles of the joker were done very well. Very deep and sympathic. For once ya really got to see the real Joker. Very pleased with The Joker part of the film.
I guess when dealing with a well known character, it's almost impossble to get it 100% accurate or please everyone.
I will do my own series soon, and hope for the succes Bob Kane has had. To bring such life to as many of the chacters as he has.
"To: Heath and Bob Kane, A job well done."

Personally
Having seen it twice, I think it's a story about the fall of the hero.
The jokers purpose was to unhinge the mindset of the hero's in the film the first being batman, after the joker realised batman was incorruptable he worked on harvey dent, destroying harveys principles and turning him bad. I think this is what bruce feared he would become if he broke his own rule of not killing criminals.
