View Full Version : Degenerated faces on text geometry

Hi

I've built some text geometry in Maya2008 that produces the following error in the most recent version of RealFlow 4:

"object polySurface1 contains 43 degenerated faces that will be ignored. Set a higher scale."

The number of degenerated faces changes depending on which font is used.

It doesn't matter whether the text is created directly in Maya or imported from Illustrator.

It's all been triangulated, with history deleted and transformations frozen.

It seems like such a simple thing to do, yet it's causing me a huge headache!

All I want to do is fill "a new forumla" with water using the same technique that was used in the 'Alexia text' tutorial. Interestingly enough 'alexia' imports to RF perfectly written in the Calibri font, but doesn't in Arial. I had massive problems with degenerated faces on a lower case Arial 't' in a previous project that was only solved by finding a 't' that didn't produce them!

If anyone has any ideas as to what is causing this, I'd like to hear them as I'm wasting a lot of time trying to find a way to import some simple text.

Many thanks
Sarah
