Due to lack of entries for the previous theme "The Subconscious", which might have been advanced for some while confusing for others, the topic for July 08 has been changed.

Since it's only 26 days till the project ends the focus of this theme is not modeling but rather rendering techniques.

Project
- Create a vase/s with emphasis on texture and lighting.

Duration
July 5th to July 31st.

Application
Any covered by Digital Tutors.

Requirements
1. Create a thread in the Member Projects forum with the subject “July08: Project title” and post your progress at least three times during the month.

2. Specify your user level with the application of choice.

3. Your final entry can be any size but it will be resized to fit a 754x506 frame where the image will be 720x480.

4. All entries will be uploaded to MonthlyProjects_Gallery account under Member Galleries category.

Poll
A poll will be posted on July 31st that is going to include all entries where members can vote for their favorite work.

The winner of the poll will be announced in the following Digital-Tutors Newsletter, to which you can subscribe to via your DT user ID options.

* DT administrators and moderators can enter this project but cannot run for the DT Newsletter polls.

It's stated above;
"Create a vase/s with emphasis on texture and lighting," when there is an a and also a /s at the end that means the number is optional :)

I like the theme, the work could be done in other kind of software like Blender?

I think Blender should be fine if one doesn't have access to DT training applications. Since it's free people can easily get it if they are interested in learning the techniques you might be using for your project, unlike 3D Studio Max or Lightwave etc. :)

Thanks DJ, it might work for me, still a bit rusty rendering with Blender, maybe a little pratice. Vases sounds really nice. :)

If you guys are looking for reference on surroundings/environments, the Dale Chihuly exhibits (http://www.chihuly.com/) really accentuate the focus objects without overpowering them.

Great link, Chris. I was searching for something that might help in compositing. Thanks! :)
