View Full Version : rigid body madness - keychain!

Gaarrhh!

Okay, I feel better. Sigh. I'm trying to make a dynamic simulation of a keychain tossed onto a table - a simple ring with five or so keys on it. I created it in Maya, triangulated it, simplified the mesh a bunch, and imported it into RealFlow (as separate objects - is there a way to import a group of objects into RealFlow at once and still have them maintain their separate identities? I know sd files maintain the separate identities, but then I can't manipulate them at all in RealFlow, can I?)

Now, the problem that I'm having is that the keys don't stay on the ring, even when they're all active rigid bodies (with the collision reference set to mesh, not box or anything). They will bounce off the ring and everything, but they don't seem to interact with it to the point where their little openings keep them connected to the ring. Is there a way to keep them on there? I ask especially because in the Intro to RealFlow DVD, in that tutorial where the wrecking ball destroys the wall, the ball seems to stay on the rope in much the same way I'm trying to get my keys to stay on the ring. Maybe I'm missing a step or something. I know it's a lot to ask, but any help you folks can provide would be very much appreciated.

Thanks!
