I made a polygon model and cut it in half and made a copy of that object where I setup the UV. After I competed the copy I transfered the UV's to the original. Once this was completed I mirrored the original and there was no transfer of UV over to the new half. Have any ideas
distressed at home!!!

Does the one you transferred the UVs to shows the UVs? If you do then you would have to transfer the UVs from it to the mirrored model.

When I mirrored the parts I found that if I used the setting of connecting edging, the UV's didn't transfer but if you used connect vertices it worked fine. Some of the vertices were close so I had to adjust the distance of merger after the mirror. It very strange how that worked.
