Nice, now all it needs is a photorealistic rendering ;)

Yeah, I was having some issues with mental ray, and the HDR image, things werent coming out the way I wanted them too. Mental ray was locking up on me and freezing maya, somehow I was getting many memory errors.

Memory errors...fun, fun! :) Just kidding of course. What sort of specs do you have on your system? Perhaps its not powerful enough to run Mental Ray or something...

Adding some realistic-type textures...dirt, dings, etc. would also help bring it to life a little more.

I was doing some rendering of a car with a image plane and I found one of the best ways to get the environment showing up on the car was to use this node in the hypershader: env texture --cube. How this works is selecting this in the hypershader and when you open this up it asked for 6 pictures. these pictures are front, back, top etc. Go outside and take some pictures (Pick a spot and shoot with a tripod front, back etc) with your digital with a tripod and plug in these pictures into the shader. Modifly the 3d placement node to fit around the object you are animating. Next you connect the output of this cube node to the reflectivity of the others shader nodes used in your scene. You will get the objects in the pictures reflecting off the car

Thanks, I will try that. Also here are my specs on my comp: AMD Athlon XP 2700, 1.5GB DDR Ram, 120 GB HD, ATI 9550 256 MB Video Card. This is probably why unless my mental ray settings arent set right for my computer settings.
