View Full Version : Can't get colour in hair (shave and haircut)

Hi,
I have modeled a 3d head in maya, and used the shave and haircut plug-in for his hair. Everything was going just fine, untill I added a fast_skin shader on head for his skin (I also applied a lightmap on that)

Ever since I did that, the hair will turn white (with some light green and red hairs between them) I've tried many colors but it just remains overall white.

My question is, is there someway to apply a different shader on my hair only? and if so, how do i do this??

Also, when I have my overide geomerty shader turned on, it crashes while rendering. with the error Fatal Error. Attempting to save in etc.

I hope someone knows how to fix this, it would be highly appreciated!

Hey Kiya

there is a work around for this, it is a glitch but I know for definate that somebody has posting a tutorial on how to fix this.

do a search, good luck

ok, try this:

check in shaveHairShape if "Override Geom Shader" is check, if this ckeckbox is unckeck Mr override shave shader and render white.With this attr uncheck u can assign any material to shave hair and render, like occlusion.Shave sometimes can crash maya, if your scene crash and u restore in .ma alot things don´t work anymore, test this with clean scene, if works your main scene have problems, delete shave´s node and start over.Also check renderglobals in pre-renderFrame MEL and pre-renderFramepost if "shave_MRFrameStart" and shave_MRFrameEnd is present.
