Hi all:

Just a quick note:

In Maya, I have a scene using a polygon plane (10x10, triangulated); however, it does not interact with the fluid emitter (in this case, a simple circle emitter with properties similar to water). My relationships appear to be in order and should interact. Interesting note - when I change the object from a plane to a very thin, wide box - it works.

In fact, when I set this up in Cinema 4D, it works well.

Is this something that is idiosynchratic with Maya and RealFlow?

Thanks,

D-

When dealing with particles, it's recommended to use objects that have thickness (just like your thin wide box) for good collision detection.
If you're dealing with other dynamic objects, you can use planes with no problem. Under your object's dynamics tab, just make sure your Primitive parameter is set to Plane.

if you're looking to have realflow fluids interact with your object IN realflow, then you will want to apply the fill-deform emitter on that object and select the verts... this will work with any object regardless of thickness but as suggested try to have some thickness in your objects :)
