I was following the introduction to maya second edition and it seems i have a problem when rendering an object
this happens when i render in mental ray

http://groups.msn.com/lttuvix/maya.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=127

as u can see i have everything except my front of the bike

now when i render in maya hardware i have the same problem but then i don't even see the window

However when i render in software i don't have any problems so it renders everything

do i need to turn on a setting or is there something wrong with my graphics card?

i got an nVidia GeForce4 Ti 4400 (1024x768x32bpp 60Hz)

The front part of the bike was created using Subdivision Surfaces. In earlier versions of Maya (6.5 and lower), Subdivision Surfaces would not render in mental ray if the geometry included both Quads and Triangles in the same mesh.

To fix this issue, go to Subdivision Surfaces > Collapse Hierarchy. Now the geometry should render just fine in mental ray.

As for the hardware render, subdivision surfaces will not show up in Hardware Render. In order to use the hardware render, you would need to convert the Sub-D geometry to Polygons.
