The NPD group has released U.S. game biz sales figures for December 2007, with the Wii and DS dominating hardware numbers, and game sales for the last month of 2007 topped by Activision's Call of Duty 4 and Nintendo's Super Mario Galaxy.
Overall, the entire video game market -- both hardware and software -- accounted for $4.82 billion in December, up 28% over to the year previous.
December hardware numbers were up 17% to $1.83 billion, with the DS easily outselling all other console and handheld platforms. The Wii carried a relatively thin lead over the Xbox 360, which also moved over a million and a quarter units during the month. The PlayStation 3 was the only console not to break the million mark for the month.
