Hello!
I wondered if you could make a tutor on how to make a brain in Maya. :) (Can't find any smart way to do it...) :(

NURBs circles, lofting (http://www.digitaltutors.com/chit_chat/showthread.php?t=193&highlight=loft), duplicate along a curve. It'll take some time, but 5 or 6 loops for each half could look nice.

If you have access to a science lab, you should try and look for a real model of a brain. That may give you a better feel for it when you sit down at the PC to digitally model it.
The brain we have on our animation was created in Maya and zbrush. Kyle used a rough poly shape and then went into zbrush and sculpted it. You could do it in Maya but it will take a lot of points. Check out the following video to give you a hand:
