Hi everyone. I have created an ocean using maya fluids ocean system and a boat in it. Now i need to render out multiple passes of it, but every time i play the simulation it acts little different and the passes dont match. Is there any way to cache the ocean behavior???

Thank you for your interest. Now to answer your question. I have some soft body ropes attach to my boat. When i cache them they are acting same way every time i hit play, but there is some offset betwen them and the boat. That way i know that the simulation of the ocean is not the same every time. I will post some pictures to make it clear as soon as i can. Until then i hope this is enough. Thanks

I have the same experience. I think the ocean shader it selves must be cached or baked some thing, but it not a real dynamics. Some where on the web I've read that the ocean should be converted to polygon but that do not feel correct because it's the shader that make the waves not the geometry. This is not an answer to your question but one more who want to know how to understand how to get the ocean to react the same every time it restart the simulation.
