i know there's a topic about this for maya 8 but i could not find a solution to my problem in 7, so i thought i would post here and show some pics of what's going on.

my first problem is that, when i try to extrude along a curve, it somehow screws itself up and doesn't look like what i want.

second problem is that the extrusion isn't even located on the grid. from some reason it shows up below the grid and my curve.

third problem is that some of the CV's aren't even touching the object. some are just floating off to the side.

my last problem is that when i try to do anything to the circle it manipulates the extrusion in really odd ways. not at all like it should.

i've done several extrusions before but this is the first time i've ever had any trouble with it. if anyone knows of a way to get this fixed please let me know. :)

The way I see it you have to maybe delete the history before the extrusion and freeze transformations aswell. Try that and than do the extrusion. Also Reset the settings on youre extrude tools and move and rotate tools just to be safe, if that all fails please provide youre scene and i'll take a look at it when I find time. Good Luck Nojoy

Like Nojoy says, delete the history to make sure the mesh is clean for transformation.

The extrude tool has a bug in Maya 8. You can find the solution here;

and here;

Hope that helps.

thanks for the help:) deleting the history and freezing the transformations seemed to work... although it still extrudes it below the grid. that doesn't matter as much as the other problems did, so i won't worry too much about it. thanks again^^

Just as a side info for tube creation I often like to use a script from highend to do so since they work quite nicely and often in shorter steps. Check out for instance createtube.mel from Dirk Bialluch. ;)
