Hello dear team

i watched the new tuto for Introduction to Modeling in 3ds Max 2012
and there is a problem in lesson 5 and 6.

first for 5:: how to do for weld the vertex after connect operation ?? very important .
if we don't know to weld vertices in spline, we can't finish the tutorial !!

second: in the start of lesson 6, the start scene is not the same that the lesson 5.
there are two splines at the center of the bike.

Hello bioclimatic,

I want to make sure I understand your questions properly, so correct me if I don't have it right.

For lesson five, your question is "How do we weld vertices after we have used the Connect operation?"

The answer is "We don't." Spline modeling in 3ds Max works differently than polygonal modeling. Whenever we want to move vertices, we need to make sure we are using the Marquee selection or "Box" selection (click and drag to select objects) around Spline vertices because they can't be welded. Again, this is because we are using Spline Modeling techniques.

However, I do explain how to weld vertices in lesson six but the situation is a little different.

For question six, your question is "Why does the bike have two splines in the center at the beginning of lesson 6? We ended lesson 5 with just one."

You are correct. At the end of lesson 5 we created the one spline in the center of the bike frame. The second spline is created exactly the same except in a different position. At the end of the lesson 5 video (around 9 minutes and 23 seconds) I explain that you should create the next line between videos.

I want to apologize for not being more clear during the videos. Hopefully this answers your questions. Don't hesitate to ask if you have more questions.
