View Full Version : [1st View Weapons] How do I.....

Hi all, I am new to this website and I just recieved my first order of "Walk Cycle" DVD and am impressed with the quality of these tutorials......

Anyway, at the moment I am working on a 1st person view arms/hands rig and I have it nearly done. The problem is that I need to prepare this rig for importing into my personal HL2 Source project and am not sure what's the correct way to prepare the rig to use a bow/arrow. Questions like how do I rig the bow and add controls to it so that it flexes naturally when pulling the string.....here's a picture of my setup..

I also need help to determine why the right-hand side of the arm mesh turns dark/black...that happens after moving it around...

Hey,

I don't know if it's the same for animationmeshes, but when I'm modeling and my mesh turns black/dark, I freeze the transformations to get rid of the blackness. (Modify-->freeze transformations)

Hi Jerod, I tried freezing transformations but that only made it worse.....anyhow, here's some information that may help pinpoint the problem.....

This is the error from the console I get when trying to freeze transformations and that's when it turns black alot worse..

// Warning: Freeze transform with negative scale will set the 'opposite' attribute for these nodes: Right_Arm1Shape //


The right side arm is a duplicate of the left side arm that was mirrored to the right side.

I think I fixed the problem, all I did is go to...

POLYGON/NORMALS/UNLOCK NORMALS

So far here's my progress, not bad eh? The arrows have dynamites strapped on, hehe "KABOOM!" ... :)
