First thing is first:

If you are a fan of the Inheritance trilogy you will notice alot, a rediculous amount of detail was taking away from the movie, now i know u r going to say but they always do it, they take so much away from the book that I was embarassed and didnt really enjoyed it as much as i should have had, it felt like Dead Men's Chest to me a little bit, but thats me I have High expectations.

First you will notice alot of cuts, such as Roran leaving not because of Katrina but because of Galbatorix is drafting the young men, so Katrina was cut out of the movie entirely along with The Twins in Tronjheim, and that its just sooooo short! OMG! 103 mins long! u cant do a movie like this with loosing a serious amount of detail, even though i appreciate Saphira talking alot, there are some scenes where she shouldnt have had like leaving Gil'ead.

The CG: what is there to say? With the VFX being done by ILM and Weta, (though mainly the team of ILM) ILM just knows dragons, though if i was Saphira's animator, i would have made her facial a little bit more expressive, instead she seems to me a little bit of robotic like the so called dragons in the animated series "dragon booster". Plus having his roots with Mental Imagery, do you think Director Steven Fangmeier had them using mental ray? i doubt it. Renderman all the way when u have a dragon that needs to be displaced like Saphira.

But the big saving grace for the movie for me was at the end, OMG! the end was the best part, I let out a huge "YES"! at the end when Galbatorix's dark dragon Shruikan appeared, it brought a warmth to my heart to see Shruikan  :D

overall it was descent, but it really, really, could have been better comming from a fan of the books series

7 out of 10
and now FOX get to work on the Eldest movie! plzzz...... :D

I guess that's probably the biggest problems of turning a book into a movie. A book makes your imagination run wild, freedom to visualize your character into any way you want. Now the interesting part is that if the book is written well, most people's perception of a character or story is more or so similar. And if the producer and director of the book's movie doesn't share most fans' thoughts then the original book is pretty much screwed, IMHO, because the movie is gonna try and force people into believing something different. One can write as much about what is the truth, most people are only gonna believe it when they see it :(
The director that did the most justice to a book's fans, as of yet, is Peter Jackson.

Yeah Peter JAckson stuck with what made the books popular. He didn't throw it into a Hollywood Fubar Formula.

True and True, but thanks be to GOD that when PJ does the Temeraire series I could count on an awesome movie, cus the way Naomi Novik utilizes her dragons is so epic only a man like PJ who brought us the amazing Massive battles that Tolkein (i would imagine) shed a tear for, showing the amazing battles and luck have it, at the end of His Majesty's Dragon there is an amazing battle at the end that omg! it would be how could i describe it? u just have to read that amazing chapter for ur self to find out what i am talking about, do u think Weta would be looking for free help?
