View Full Version : Mental Ray Materials

Whenever i assign a mental ray material (like dgs) my polygon turns green and when i render it out it just renders black, and the alpha channel doesnt see it either. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

Not sure what the problem is but i would first run diagnostics to see if any problems accur.
Do either of the following:
From the main Maya window, select Render > Render Diagnostics.
From the Render View window, select File > Render Diagnostics.
Maya opens the Script Editor and displays a list of potential problems in the scene.
Maybe there you see what your problem is ... Check the output window while youre scene is rendering it may also display errors or what is causing problems in your scene when rendering with mental ray.

In older versions of maya you have to assign the mental ray material to the shader group node in the correct spot. If you have maya 7 or 8 it shouldn't matter but if you have 6 you should double check that. WAtch this video to get a better idea of what I mean:

There was no problems in render diagnostics and putting it in the old way (i have maya 7) didnt work either. Could there be a problem with mayas files on my computer to cause this?
