Hiding Sub-D mesh?

When I'm working on a Sub-D in edge mode, some edges are hidden inside the actual surface. This makes them hard to select and I have to zoom inside the model to be able to see these edges.

How can I quickly hide everything but the edges? Or are there other techniques?

If it's the same mesh, then select the faces of those edges first. Go to "Show" of the view panel, and go to Isolate Select > View Selected. That's going to show only that part of the mesh and hide the rest. When you're done with tweaking that area, go to Show > Isolate select, and click again on View selected. The rest of the mesh shows.
