Trouble with proportional modeling

Hi, I'm working on the Modeling a Character for Rigging and Animation tutorial and I'm having trouble getting the proportional modeling to work. I changed the settings in the preferences: Tools/Camera/Navigation Only.... Have view and prop buttons checked but it's still not working. I've got it to work a few times but know can't get it to work at all. When I scroll the MM button it doesn't zoom or make the selection grow.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks

Sorry, I've resolved the issue it was a problem with my mouse.

Typically, this type of behavior occurs if you are trying to enable Proportional Modeling without having the Scale, Rotate or Translate tool active (I still sometimes fall victim to this little quirk).

Try enabling the Scale, Rotate or Translate tool, and see if Proportional Modeling works as expected.
