I am having problems rendering with a specific camera or perspective. In the Render Globals the camera/persp. I want to use has "[renderable]" next to it and I cannot batch render with it. What does this mean? And why will it not batch render? This appears to happen suddenly, after I close and open the render/globals window.

Running:

maya 5
G4 osx

rendering with maya software.
Tiff sequence.

Hmmm...if you have created the camera it should automatically turn up in your "Camera" menu of the Render Globals, especially when you are using Maya software renderer. Then all you do is select it from the pull down menu.
It's been such a long time since I've used Maya 5, but see if under Render > Render Using, Maya software has a check beside it.
Opening up the options for Batch Render should just give option to the number of processors you wanna use.

Okay, also try this;

Open up your camera's attributes.
Go to Output Settings, and uncheck "Renderable".
Open up the render globals and select that camera. Close Globals. Batch render.

Hope that works.

The camera is available in the pulldown menu in Render globals. It has "renderable" adjacent to it in brackets. When this happens I can no longer batch render with it.

Yeah, just follow that second post of mine. It worked on my side. Hopefully it will on yours too.

It worked! Thankyou very much. Confusing– why would turning renderable off have what seems to be the opposite outcome?

Thanks again.

You're welcome.
Actually, with "renderable" checked you can render views from multiple cameras by click batch render once. Maya is automatically going to make folders for each of these cameras, in your destination directory, and put their renders in there.
Hope that helps.
