View Full Version : Annoying 'mold line'! How do I get rid of it?

Hello!
If you check out this picture:
http://ic3.deviantart.com/fs12/f/2006/340/0/e/Fetus_by_LoonValley.jpg
you'll notice that there's an unsightly line running right down the middle of the model, where I joined the two halves together.
Anyone know a quick fix for getting rid of it? Or is it a case of messing around with individual vertices?
Thanks for your time!

get an error when loking at the pic so maybe check your link.
If u are getting a seam then probably the edges are not aligned/joined properly. recheck the verts. :)

Like brandeil said, to get rid of the seam, you have to combine the two halves and then merge the verticies in the middle. If you want to create a preview of what it will look like, what I do is I select the two halves, duplicate and move them to the side, then do a combine and then merge verticies with a small distance setting. Then do a smooth or convert to sub-ds (whatever you want) and apply a shiny blinn material to it to see the details. Then copy all the code from the script editor and drag it onto the shelf so when ever you want you can get a quick preview.

Hi brandeil,
There are a few ways to get rig of a line like this.
1.First of all did you combine the halves and weld the vertices ?
2. Second cause could be you need to adjust the tangency of the verts, snap both verts either side of the middle line vert together then scale out to give smooth tangency.
3. Third cause could be the way you built the model, so go to Normals _ soften then harden and that can smooth things out for you sometimes.
hope that helps
