I can't seem to get my image plane to rotate or "flip" in the image plane attribute editor. I incorrectly imported the image upside-down and I'm too lazy to return to photoshop to rotate it and then re-import it. When I enter a value into the rotate option of the image plane editor nothing happens. I can only affect the x, y, and z options.

Also, as a side note, how does DT or for that matter anyone protect themselves from resale on EBAY. I personally like the DT videos and their business so I support them by only making a purchase on DT. Othewise their business plan gets undermined and DT is no longer around. Others may not feel so compelled. Their site has no external advertisements which makes my computer very happy. Just curious. Thanks in advance to DT and the other people who visit this site and take the time to respond to my newbie questions. It is easier to get a response on this forum than to mine through endless paperwork and tutorials to get a question answered. I have done this many times. So, much is appreciated.

For the image plane, because images planes don't use file nodes to pass the texture info, you are limited to only being able to do what the images plane has options for. I'm pretty sure the Rotate attribute under placement is supposed to do this, but I can't get any of the placement attributes to do anything. Basically you are going to have to flip the image in PS.

Unfortunately there nothing anyone can do about piracy. It will always exist as long as their are dishonest people around. What they don't realize is that the only reason they were able to get their pirated product is because honest people like you pay for them.

Image planes are attached to the camera, but by default their options are fixed. In your imagePlane tab you can select either "Fixed" or "Attached To Camera" -- by default, as mentioned, it fixed. Switch it to "Attached To Camera" and you can change the rotate values. Be aware though, that since its attached to the camera, what you're essentially doing is rotating the camera its attached to.

I decided to creat a nurbs plane, lambert it, attach a file, i.e, my photoshop file or image, and then open the file icon from the create texture in hypershade, and wallah, I now have an image I can put on a layer and reference or template it. It took me awhile to figure this out but I think this allows me to more easily manipulate my image in Maya. Much thanks for all the help....
