keyframing Photon Intensity

Hi,

In my animation, the photon intensity value under the mental ray tab of my direction light, changes as time goes by. I've 'set key' the photon intensity at different frame numbers. As the frame number changes, so does the Photon Intensity value. As I want it to do.

The problem I'm having is that it makes no difference in the rendered image result! I seems to instead, only remember my last photon intensity value input. It's not listening to the changing to the intensity value!

Any suggestions? All help will be appreciated!

Yes, they don't change on my scene either when keyframed. The reason is that Photons are a very sensitive feature of rendering, that is, they're used only for enhancing the render's environment but not to be a part of the scene as an object (hope that makes sense).
So I would suggest to keyframe the intensity of the light instead. It will also take effect on the Photons' intensity.
