I recently try Joe alter's Shave and Hair cut and i was surprised to see that there is one option missing in it's menu which is Hair color (In It's help it is indicated that this is option is used for provide hair color apart from other options)
Plz anyone help me how can i apply a color map for hair without this option.
there is another problem which I am facing is UV linking plz also provide bit guidance about that too.

"Hair Color" is under "Material Properties" of the shaveNode.
By UV linking, do you mean growing hair on selected faces? If so, then this might help;

By link Uv I mean that growing hair according to UV's as well appling textures maps to hair.
Sorry for my ignorance but I was unable to find hair color option.plz explain or provide an image.
I heard you are coming up a dvd for shave and hair cut ,I am using 4.4 (latest one )plz include topics for rendering with MR as there are many options which are in it's help Pdf but not in the software .

Yes, the Shave and a Haircut kit is currently under production and should be released soon.
About UV Linking: I think that feature applies to Maya's hair in specific. I do know there is a is a way to map the shave hair but I'll have to learn it myself first :) But other then that you can select faces on an object and apply the hair to that area.
Yeah, the previous version had Haircolor, but this one is has root color and tip color, which pretty convenient. Here's a screenshot.

uV linking is used through inbuilt relationship editor of shave and hair cut but I am not able to make connections .
without hair color option how do we make hairs to take the colour of textures as in most cases it is very easy yo use base texture for hair or fur texure like the one we have in maya's own fur option.
the help which comes with this new version is of old version and it does not sole many purposes.even in rendering there are many changes.thanks for your reply I can understand that you are also learning but you are in position to ask the makers of shave and hair cut about these changes which are not reflecting in their help.
Looking forward for your next release.

Yup, you can apply texture map to the hair. Just click on the checkered box that's under "Tip Color" to apply a texture file on the tip, and do the same for "Root color". I'm still looking into rest of the Material properties but they're pretty flexible as far as creating different shades go, like there's Hue variation, which will bring in shades of different colors in the hair beside the main color.

thanks I'll try it but I suppose all these option were also present in previous version along with hair color so there must be something missing in this release .Thanks again for your help and effort.

Hi!
I dont think it is possible in Shave like in Maya fur. The option available is to create two different hairs and color them individually.

If you go through the DOCUMENTATION ,it is written that you can link UV's but I don't know how.

You can link textures to UV sets on the growth mesh with Shave UV Linking. First build your UV sets. Then, with the Shave Relationship Editor (Edit Current > Shave UV Linking), you just select the UV set and the desired textures (that will use that UV set when the texture lookup occurs).
