comebody know how can I make a realistic ocean wave in maya???
make the hole in the wave....
and collide to it self...

you might can do it with particles me personally, i would use realflow to do something llike that....but that's a good question!

I did something like that a long time ago using blend shapes, and particles, which are omitted from a curve that's attached to the tip of the wave.
It turned out pretty well. Animating the wave is the easy part, you just have to make sure the textures and the lighting is properly applied. However, all the power is in the foam. Particle collision and Air field on the particles are keyframed to create that crashing effect.

jajajaja thanx I try to ways whit realflow an with blendshape in maya....
with the blend shape you have more control of the wave.... but realFlow is more natural think..... :jump should be other way of do this...

i'd say the easiest way it to use geometry for the actual wave, then have particles for the foam/ any water that splashes. If you look at something like day after tommorow, i'm pretty sure the wave scene that fills New York was not all particles, and even if it was, the CPU power required for that would be insane.
