Hello, my name is Daniel and I'm a Brazillian.
I've completed a university course here in Brazil on Advertising and now I'm going to Vancouver Canada to study 3D Animation and Visual Effects at Vancouver Film School starting at the end of June.

So, As I've been told, it's a good idea to start learning before getting there, so I'll have a head start. I've got myself an annual Digital Tutors subscription and started studying in april. First I did some maya tutorials on modelling a character, and then rigging and animating a walk cycle. After that I went to ZBrush, and did a tutorial 3 weeks ago on High Poly Character Sculpting (The one with the biker). I got really excited, ZBrush is so fun to work on ^^

Now, I want to merge those two things together... I want to do a character in ZBrush in High Poly, bring it back to maya to a lowpolly, and then rig and animate it. I have a little story in my head that I don't know if I'll be able to do, but I'm willing to try ^^.

So I'm starting this topic to show my project, and get a little feedback if possible XD

This is Grok, my Orc.

I took some screenshots along the progress

And here is him after playing around with multiple passes render on Zbrush and Photoshop xD

And here is his face after I noticed it was way too dull and boring

Still have got to fix a few things, his feet being the one that most needs fixing, but I already downloaded the Highpoly to Lowpolly character tutorial to my vault xD Soon I'll be learning how to take him to maya to rigg and animate... By the way, I watched the "Introduction to Rigging" tutorial to do my first walkcycle ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtuxnXhkYNU ), the one with 2 and a half hours instead of the big one that's almost 7 hours... There's also the one that uses the biker that's called something like "Rigging a Game Character" or something... Which one I should watch? =x 7 hours one? Biker One? Or I could do the same thing that I did on that little alien with the 2 and a half hours one and be happy? XD Or is there a easier way to rigg that isn't in any of these tutorials? =x

Well, I'll post my progress here from now on xD Feedback is appreciated, specially when it comes with tutorials I should watch and general tips, lol.

Thanks ^^

wow, really nice job... I like that model
what a coincidence, im working on a fantasy story by myself, and nowdays im developing some of the maincharacters.
I also have some Orks as Characters one of them is Kapumpoc ;) Ive started sculpting in Mudbox yesterday.
But looking on your work... well Grok has that cartoony style I like so much :)
Im not very far done with my model, but if you dont mind, I would like to transfer some things of Grok's appearance because my model still does look too - .. ah, well he just doesnt look like I would like him too be.
But Grok really has that stylized look - and again: I like that ^^

I would like to see that one finshied :)

PS: Did you check out Exaggerated Facial Expressions in ZBrush and Maya, great tutorial for making animatable and realistic looking Blendshapes for your model

Kind regards - Adeptus
