hi
I am fairly new at max,. I inherited a file from my work that I need animate. But apperently the polygons in this file are terribly triangulated. As u can see in the link below.
Now the history of this file
- this file was originally modeled and exported from solid works.
- Then some dude at work imported in cinema 4d and rendered a single frame for a product display image. now he use some shader (I think could be phong) in cinema 4d to hide these triangulated edges in his render.

Now I have tried cleaning these edges, using turbo smoothing(really bad results), smoothing groups (alot of work and not satisfactory results).

IS THERE A something like a similar shader or phong shading in max that can fix this problem. PLEASE HELP THANKS

what link?

TS is not a way of cleaning up the polys because TS only smooths out the object(s) press F4 the edge faces now with the sub-object of the polys select the edges and with the edges selected hit the backspace key this will remove the edges. if this info does not help then please reinsert the image

good luck

Before He imported the model how did the render look before you imported into max? did it have dents in it in 4d? if so you cannot do much with the model

it's has too many dents on the model and i am not sure why! you won't able to smooth out the dents with TS as you see. what is the poly count? if you hit 7 then this will bring up the pount count in yellow writing to the left top of the p.view of the screen.
