Hi. In the Mental Ray for Maya training kit, you show how to make really nice wireframe contour renders with mental ray, but I was wondering something. One of the things many 3ds max users like about the ease of max's ability to render wireframe is that you can have the wireframe be shaded, which looks really nice. I was looking around in the contour settings, and in the shading group settings, there's an area for contour shader override. I assumed that this was a way to replace the contours with like a normal shader, so I tried both replacing it with a lambert and also a mental ray node (I used DGS material when I tried it), but both times it gave me a fatal error and crashed maya when I tried rendering.
What am I doing wrong? What is this "contour override shader" really supposed to be used for?
