Can anyone point me in the right direction for a descent tutorial on compositing a 3d object into a video scene?

What i want to do is video a hallway at work, then animate a droid hovering down it etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is the footage going to move, or is it a lockdown shot? Depending on the footage you get, what would probably be easiest would be to import it as an image plane and the do a rough model of the hallway....most specifically, anything the droid would have contact with. Then you can animate your droid and render just the droid out (and the droid's shadows, which will cast naturally since they're casting on the geometry you modeled to look like the real hallway). Then composite the real footage with the droid animation in AE.
