Love the car at the beginning. Great modeling, great lighting and reflections, very creative.
I like how you faded to wireframe and then back out while it spun. Also, love the refractions in the glass. Really really nice.

The space man/eyeball in his flying saucer is also nice. Great energy, nice look.

The clock ball thing is awesome. It looks good as both a wireframe thing and normal. You could probably even do each of them full screen. But the side by side thing works, it's just difficult to see both at once.

The scene where the eyeball space man zaps that guy is really good. That shows a lot of potential in my opion. I didn't see that coming where the guy gets zapped. Very nice.

In the crab/robot scene, where the guy gets zapped, it looks contrived. Some good work here, but you might consider taking that into your compositor and zoom in on it or something so it doesn't look quite so staged. Maybe a camera shake at the big moment would help.

The scene where the robot walks toward the camera (about 1:03) and the scene turns wireframe, I'd get rid of that wireframe stuff and let the scene play normally. You did a great job with lighting and setting the whole thing up. I don't think you gain anything by showing wireframe in this one.

At about 1:47, there's a transition that sort of pops in, rather than dissolves in. Right after the robot shot where you can see the muscles and joints.

Hope this helps. Just trying to give something to make what you have even better. But it is really good as-is. You could definitely show this and get hired now. Especially if someone is looking for character work.

Great stuff James, I like pretty much all of it, nice work. I think your robot animation is probably some of the most complex, interesting and best work, so I'd put it right up front. No reason to save it for the end if someone doesn't finish watching it. I also think the crowd standing and pointing is a bit long and doesn't really add too much. Cut in right before the vaporization. Anyway, hope that helps. Oh yeah, and don't you have lots of controls and stuff for the robot rig? Right now it's just showing bones and muscle, I think, which doesn't show off the rigging maybe to the extent you would want.

Thanks for the comment, i was unsure about the crowd so ill remove it :), with the rig i would have liked to include the control curves but couldn't find out how to make the show with a hardware render but ill make sure ill get them in :D, cheers :)

Great reel! If it were categorized I would say it fits 3D animation and modeling. Yes, the live-action part is probably one of the few distractions. The rig expose sequence might need a bit of brightness but other than it's a working reel. At least it kept my attention until the very end :)
