Iff file creation

I have recently picked up the rendering with mental ray workflow, specifically for the sss tutorial.

I am having a problem however.

I need to manually creater a .iff file for the mental ray node in the light map slot of my sss skin shader.

However it does not work. It saves it as a txt document even though i change the extension to .iff, and so it will not work. Any ideas?

what program are you using to create the .iff? There is a plugin for photoshop on highend3d.com that will let you do it.

im not using a program, it just says that i need to create a txt document and give it the extension of .iff, and that woks, though ti doesnt for me.

Make sure that when you're saving the document, click on the Format pulldown menu and select "All File types", and then name your file with the iff format. There might also be the chance that Windows isn't showing file extensions by default. For that; open any window, go to Tools > Folder Options > View, and uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types". Now you can go ahead and change formats of files.
