rigid body constrain error

I am trying to wrap my head around rigid body dinamics in softimage, however i have stumbled upon this problem.

I am trying to assing a hinge constrain to two objects (one passive, another active) and I get this error:
"<object name> is not a rigid body in the same environment, body will not be attached to constraint.
I've been reading the softimage wiki and the user's gudie, and I just can't figure out why this is happening. both objects ARE in the same environment, I am selecting them in the right order, and yet this error keeps popping up.
I've tried removing and reactivating the rigid body in the objects, I've tried reinitializing softimage... so far no luck.
