View Full Version : Mesh wont build

Hi all,
I'm having a problem building a mesh around my cached particles. I've created the mesh, I've assigned the particle to the mesh (it's in italics below the mesh in the hierarchy in the Nodes window).

So when I try to build the mesh, in the messages window, it gives me the whole "building mesh...(press esc to abort)" then "Save pathname/meshName.frame.bin" at the same exact timestamp. (seems a little too fast, huh?)

And nothing shows up! I've checked the transparency. I've messed with the polygon size and gave it all sorts of values (from .05 all the way up to 15) so I don't think it's that. RealFlow (using 4.3) creates the mesh bin file in the folder, but it's only 1 kb. Doesn't seem right.

I've started a new scene with a new particle object and the mesh on that builds just fine. So what's wrong with my scene? Any thoughts on how I broke this? I would be happy if somebody can help me figure this out because at this point I'm about to start the scene over from scratch since a new scene's mesh works, but I'm afraid since I have no idea what the problem is, I might just do the exact same thing again and end up in the same spot I'm in now anyway.
Help!
Thanks

It's been a few days...
Guess this isn't the best forum for these types of questions...

For those of you with the same problem, I found a solution here:

http://www.realflowforum.com/view_topic.php?id=4979

Not exactly a solution, it's really more of a workaround, but it works: just create a new scene and use the "Binary Loader" (under emitters) and point it to your cached particle .bin files (they will be in ...scenes/Project_Name/particles folder). Then build mesh on that.

I still don't know what I did to break my scene, or if it was a bug, etc.(any suggestions?) But at least I didn't have to redo all my work.
Hope this helps some of you!
