I've done a render using DGS materials lit by HDRI I'm trying to save the completed render but it keeps saving the image half render half alpha like the image below. What am I missing or doing wrong??

What format are you saving out to? Also, are you doing a batch render or a quick render in the render pane?

I'm saving it as png it's a quick render. I have never done a batch render before so don't really know how that works

try using targa format

Now that I think about it, I don't think I've ever used PNGs out of Maya. I always use jpegs for previews and targas for final renders.

Tried saving it as a targa file and it worked. Don't understand why png doesn't work, especially since thats what I've been using to save my renders.

PNGs generally are used for the web and sometimes have issues being displayed depending on your setup ... although newer technology is doing away with these issues pretty quickly. Anyway, did you try opening up the PNG in something like Photoshop or was it displaying like that in the Windows Picture & Fax Viewer?

I tried opening it in photoshop first and it was bad so I tried the windows picture and fax viewer and same bad result. Saving as a psd was pretty much the same.

Interesting. When opening the bad files in Photoshop, did they have an alpha? Also, did you get the same result when you tried to render a PNG or PSD without an alpha?

Yup, I unchecked without alpha and it still came out looking like alpha was enabled.
