When I add a texture to an object it does not show up in the comp window. I can only see it through a render, which makes it difficult to align properly. Any reasons for this, or solutions?
Using:
Maya 6
G4 dual 533.

Try, if you haven't already, pressing 6 on your keyboard.

Yeah, I've tried that... nothing.

Are you using mentalray shaders? I guess what I'm saying is, can you provide a little more info?

Also, you might check your texture resolution, I think Maya 6 was buggy with texture resolutions 1500 and above. That's just a thought though.

when you have pressed 6 try going into High Quality mode (it's in one of those menus that are white, like panels, etc).
It's possible if it's never worked before that your graphics card can't display them.

No mentalray shaders. When I press "6" on the keyboard the object changes color but no texture is displayed. Maybe I should have another way about doing it, however, I typically choose a surface shader then choose a texture file.
Where do I adjust texture resolution?

provide more information; what version of maya, what video card are you using with which driver version, what renderer are you using, what's the texture's format jpg, bmp, tga, ?... no one can help you unless you provide enough information.

It does not seem to matter what texture format or renderer I am using. The problem is in my main panel window not the render.
My graphics card is a GeForce2 MX. Sorry, but I'm unclear about the driver version.

Make sure u are not using layered shaders, or layered, they won't, they appear only render time, try to turn on high quality display, and notice if any error messeges are display, its might ur graphics card is outdated.
