Hi Everybody

I am about to put my show reel together (finally).
But I want to tweak some characters that I rendered out, now I have all the Red,Blue and Green mattes in a separate render layer for making changes to each part of the character in post, but I would like to know how to apply them in after effects ?

I looked at colour keying but my knowledge is limited of After Effects !

Any help on this would be great

thanks

Andy Gee

Hello Andy! You were on the right path looking at color keying. Here's a video on how you can use your RGB matte in After Effects. Hope it helps!

Might want to look at my animation preset for selecting Red, Green, Blue Mattes as well as Cyan, Magenta, Yellow mattes.

I also touch briefly on various methods of extracting these mattes, some are better than others color keying as above is fine, but there are more accurate methods of doing this.

http://www.chrisforrester.tv/blog/2010/5/7/channel-id-selection-color-id-passes-in-after-effects.html is my blog page with information and a link to a video

http://www.chrisforrester.tv/storage/blog/colorid/ColorID-Slider_ToAlphaWithMasks.zip is the animation preset (explained in the video)

Hope it is of help to you.
