Working With Type In Maya 5.0

Hello guys-


I was wondering if I can get a response for my type test in Maya.

Ok I went into Illustrator, created this type - after finishing I "Saved As" - I turned off the compression. so then it went too my desktop. So I open Maya, Import the text into Maya. I Duplicated the text and started to build or should I say modify the TEXT , in Maya.

Ok so I "lofted" the "edge(s)" then Hit "Planar" to close up the middle sections. Ok so it gave me these sloppy edges. So how do I clean this up and make it look really slick and smooth.

Has anyone ever had this issue, if so please explain too me, how did you get out of this snag.

I went too the sections on the DT site to see the free tut on type- however it only goes so far, then it ends.

After that, the instructor tell us to go to [Aliaswavefront.com] to downlaod a file or plug in for this.

I type it in the URL, and it send me too Autodesk.com, and they will not allow no one without a memebership to them to get to what-ever there is for this subject matter, anywas so that was a dead end. I am so limited in my knowing how to correctly do this from start to finish.

I don't have here, but if you go to the render menue set, uder one of the menues theres an option to set nurbs tesselation. Select your object, and bring all the setting to max, then render. It should take a lot longer but look nicer. Then slowly move the setting down until you have something that looks good with the lowest possible setting.

BTW, its a lot easier to just select the curve and go to surface->bevel plus, produced nice results:
